Buying Local & Organic Food

Bwyd Lleol ac Organig i Brynu

Whilst staying at Aberhyddnant there are a variety of ways for you to enjoy good food

Aberhyddnant Farm

Home produced organic beef, lamb, and pork (including bacon and sausage) is available during your stay from the freezer in the shared utility room. This works on an honesty box system – you choose your meat, make a note of the price and pay before leaving.

Also in the freezer is a selection of locally produced vegetarian burgers and Glamorgan Sausages (cheese and leek) made by Greta’s Wholefoodies near Bridgend. These burgers include Laverbread, and Curried Chickpea.

Guests are welcome to collect eggs during their stay, again on an honesty box system.

Seasonal vegetables are also available during the year from our own kitchen garden. Availability is limited by my ability as a gardener and the weather, however, during the season we should have French beans, potatoes, broad beans, runner beans, snap peas, sweetcorn, courgettes, purple sprouting, sprouts, parsnips, carrots and onions.

Penpont Estate Garden Shop – A40 to Brecon This little shop is open from June to Christmas on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It sells fantastic, interesting and tasty fresh produce from their organic walled garden as well as a range of local produce and crafts.

Brecon Farmers Market – Market Hall, Brecon Great selection of local produce available, 3rd Saturday of the month plus extras during Summer months.

For your day-today needs there is the Spar and Londis in Sennybridge both offering a surprising range of products and a friendly smile
